Basso Lab’s John Salako Featured in Good Fruit Grower for Cherry Root Mapping Research

We’re proud to share that our own Basso Lab graduate student, John Salako, is featured in Good Fruit Grower for his exciting research on tart cherry orchards!

John is using ground-penetrating radar to map cherry tree root systems—work that is opening new opportunities to understand how roots and canopies interact and influence tree health and yields. His efforts are part of a multi-year USDA-funded project where our lab, alongside collaborators, is developing precision tools to improve orchard management and support tart cherry growers.

John’s innovative work is a great example of the impact our team is making, and we couldn’t be prouder to see him highlighted for his contributions.
